Tasting notes
Three cups
- 1the first hour
First sip
A brisk, slightly smoky opening. Buy a steam engine, lay track to the next city, haul what it needs. The interface is dense and takes a few days to stop fighting you, but the first decisions are real decisions.
- 2the first week
Mid-cup
By the first week the structure shows. Routes, engine generations, wagons versus speed, which city your association adopts: everything compounds over the round. Our association finished fourth. We were unreasonably pleased.
- 3a month in
Finish
The finish depends on your taste for deadlines. The last era wants daily attention, the final week is intense, and premium bonuses matter more late than early. Then the round closes and you start again. Half of us loved it; the other half went back to Elvenar.
Pairs with
- People who like a season with a scoreboard
- Route planners rather than siege planners
- Anyone who'd rather restart than face year-old veterans
Leaves a bitter note if
- Everything resets every three months
- Daily log-ins expected near the end
- Premium gives paying players a real late edge
