Tasting notes
Three cups
- 1the first hour
First sip
A big, immediate hit. Fifteen minutes from creating an account to sacking a robber baron castle, and the siege screen, where you assign troops and tools to three flanks, is a proper little puzzle. The alliance chat is already busy.
- 2the first week
Mid-cup
The first week is strong. Wars, coordinated attacks and diplomacy are where the game lives, and on an active server the alliance layer is as good as the genre gets.
- 3a month in
Finish
Then the harshness. Shields, speed-ups, event ladders and the better equipment all lean on rubies, a non-paying player feels the ceiling within a few weeks, and you can be raided while offline. A great cup for someone who'll spend a little or commit to a top alliance; everyone else will find the finish too bitter.
Pairs with
- PvP players with an alliance
- Anyone who wants a siege tonight
- People comfortable spending a little
Leaves a bitter note if
- The heaviest shop on the bench
- Raided while offline
- The mobile version is a separate game
