Tasting notes
Three cups
- 1the first hour
First sip
Delicate and a little thin at first. The opening week is slow: long research timers, a map that takes a while to open, a lot of watching things finish. The art carries it; every building is hand-drawn and animated, and the Elf and Human versions of the same structure are properly different.
- 2the first week
Mid-cup
By the first week the balance shows. Provinces open up through negotiation or the game's own encounters, the fellowship gives cooperative play a rhythm without demanding a schedule, and the shop stays politely in the background. We never spent and never felt nudged.
- 3a month in
Finish
The finish is long and clean. There's no raid calendar, no overnight loss, nothing to defend, and the weekly tournaments give it just enough edge. The only bitterness is late-game space, when fitting buildings into the grid becomes a puzzle you may not want.
Pairs with
- Builders who want to be left alone
- People who care how a city looks
- A first browser strategy game for someone who says they don't play
Leaves a bitter note if
- The slowest first week on the bench
- Combat is optional and thin
- Late-game city Tetris
